Our Founder: Aaron Gochman

Med Mentality caps the number of its students every year because Aaron is personally involved in each and every application. Nothing is submitted without his reviews, input, and approval!
Founder's message: "Despite having 'low stats,' I was accepted to several of the top medical schools in the United States. Now, I have built on my first-hand experience with years of documenting what works for my clients. I've developed an informed understanding of what really matters.
The Med Mentality approach focuses on building a narrative that highlights each individual's strengths and aligns with the missions and values of the schools they are applying to. Leveraging our experience from the other side of the fence, my associates and I show our clients how to articulate their 'why' in ways that resonate with admissions committees."

Testimonials
I cannot even begin to express how incredible Aaron was throughout my application process. I was worried about my average MCAT score and GPA, but Aaron helped me convey my passion for primary care through my extracurriculars in my writing. He was with me through every step of the way, working tirelessly to help me create a perfect application. His honesty was invaluable, and he gave me better guidance than my college's health professions committee. With Aaron's help, I have received 6 interview invites and an acceptance by December! I am so grateful for Aaron and can honestly say that his advising was a gamechanger during my application process.
This experience was hands down the key to my success in my med school application cycle! Aaron and his associates are all sooo knowledgeable about how everything works and they guided me through every step of the way. I was aiming high, mainly for a T20, which I was borderline for in terms of my stats (3.85/518). Never could I have imagined getting not one, not two, but FIVE interview invites from T20s and another handful from others while technically being below the medians for both GPA and MCAT at almost all of those top schools. Just from some of the feedback I got during interviews, these schools clearly read every word of my application and asked me about specific things in there. Because we spent so much time carefully putting everything together, it was natural for me to explain myself during interviews and sell myself in a successful way. Thank you so so much and I am incredibly grateful for all your help!!!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Aaron and his team (Mira and Seungyeon!) for getting me through this process! I have been working with Aaron for more than a year now and he helped me study for my MCAT, find a gap year job, and do my entire application (primary, secondaries, interviews) together. Without a doubt I could not have done this without him. He got me on track as a junior who was lost and then made a comeback to be ready to apply to med school as a senior. For the application prep itself, it actually went really smoothly and the whole thing went by in a blink. Even though we put many many hours in drafting, meeting, texting, etc about everything that was needed to submit a successful application, Aaron has this way of making you believe everything is just going to be okay. I never felt like I was left on my own and that took a lot of stress out of the process. The amount of help I got from Aaron, Mira, and Seungyeon completely blew away my expectations! Thank you all so much for everything!!!
I am so happy with how everything turned out!! Months and months of work and it was so worth it! Most importantly of all, there is absolutely NO WAY I could have done this withouy Med Mentality. Aaron went the extra mile with every step in the process, from planning my application to perfecting my writing to mock interviews (shoutout Atlee!) to his constantly positive energy, I was blown away by how much support I received throughout the whole process! Would give 10 stars if I could!!!!
I believe I had a good-but-not-great application at baseline , but Med Mentality really took it to the next level. Aaron helped me define my strengths and build a whole strategy into what turned into a cycle that was far more successful than I could’ve predicted. I received 11 interview invitations, including Duke, Rochester, Mount Sinai, And I’m currently starting at one of these amazing programs! From the thought that went into it to the amazing editing to the guidance through interview prep, this almost felt like a cheat code to what is otherwise an opaque and stressful process. The most important thing for me was, I felt like Aaron and his team truly cared about me and my application, and frequently went the extra mile. I would highly highly recommend this company!!
It almost feels weird writing a review like this as if it's another company or product out there. Med Mentality really is something else...it feels different because of how personalized the experience was. From responding to texts at random hours to Zooming with me the night before an interview to calm nerves, it was above and beyond a 5 star experience. For the actual application, Aaron made sure my voice was in there as we edited the drafts together. We even met on Zoom several times just to for him to ask about what I was trying to say in certain essays before he went back to editing. When it came to interviews, I got detailed advice on which experiences might be better to highlight for certain schools, like certain activities or perspectives I had preprared to discuss. Overall, I am so grateful for everything and would do it again 10/10 times!
My experience was nothing short of phenomenal! Aaron and his team (thank you also to Atlee and Seungyeon:) ) made sure I prepared a killer application, from beginning to end. I appreciated how much thought went into crafting my narrative, which I really feel like set me apart for the most competitive schools. Very very pleased overall and super excited to take my MED MENTALITY with me to medical school!! Y'all are the best thank you so much!
Aaron is truly the best. His knowledge is invaluable, and his editing and mentorship are unparalleled. Throughout this long and often grueling journey, I felt incredibly supported, and I attribute a huge part of that to Aaron’s personality and approach. He’s a straight shooter—exactly what you need in an admissions consultant, especially for something as high-stakes as medical school. He won’t hesitate to tell you when an idea isn’t working, but more importantly, he’ll show you how to make it better. His tough but thoughtful guidance pushes you to think deeply and craft the most compelling, authentic narrative. I can confidently say I wouldn’t have navigated this process as successfully without him. If you're on the fence in regards to working with Aaron, I truly think it's a no brainer and, without a doubt, the best investment in your career progression.
Honestly my expectations were not high based on my friends experiences with different consulting companies, but Med Mentality is one of a kind. It’s a small team led by Aaron and he is involved with every step along the way. I received encouragement and helpful advice that I believe made a major difference in my application cycle. With my White Coat ceremony just past, I feel obligated to thank Aaron and the team once again for their phenomenal efforts!
MARVELOUSSSS!! MAGIC! I can't even put into words how incredible this was! Over the course of about 9 months I have worked with Aaron (and Seungyeon!!) to navigate my med school admissions process, and I simply could not have done it without him. From creating a narrative out of my upbringing and extracurriculars, to designing a school list, to keeping me on track with all the deadlines and timelines, to getting interviews, preparing for interviews, and everything in between, I have been supported way beyond what was expected when I signed up. There were so many things that came up - having to draft my own letter of rec, drafting update letters and LOI, preparing good questions for my interviewers, and more - that Aaron took extra time to help me with. Besides the excellent quality of the application I submitted, I have to comment on Aaron's incredible advice as a consultant. As someone who personally knows the system, has such a strong understanding of what appeals to admissions officers. He taught me to avoid certain buzzwords and cliches, how to answer questions/prompts directly, and he always knew how to phrase things to sound just right. He was able to phrase things in my own words as a college student while explaining that making certain points would show I knew what I was talking about. Also, there were so many times he shared stories about his experiences in med school, gave me insight into different specialties, talked about challenges in patient care, told me about hot topics in my interviewers' fields, that I feel like I passively learned a lot just from working with him. I feel like I've gained a real mentor, not just for now but going forward as well! Thank you Aaron for all you do! :)
I was on the fence about using an application guidance service, but at this point in the cycle, I have no regrets about working with Med Mentality. With high stats but average extracurriculars, I knew it would be important to package myself well, and I think Aaron is exceptional at helping students do just that. There’s so much conflicting advice out there, but Aaron does a great job of getting straight to the point by helping craft an authentic narrative that hits the themes that are appealing to admissions committees. I couldn’t have predicted that I would receive 9 interview invites (including four T20’s) and 6 acceptances (including a T20 full-tuition offer!) so far, and I’m very grateful for Med Mentality’s guidance. Highly recommend!!
Med Mentality is THE BEST OF THE BEST and is probably incomparable to any admissions consulting company out there. I did a few other consultation meetings before deciding to work with Aaron and the choice was easy. Aaron and his small team create the feel of a private company that really knows its stuff and gets to know its clients on a personal level. No scams, no gimmicks, no squeezing extra pennies out of you for things you don't need. Honestly, I felt like I received even more attention and help than I paid for, making this well worth it as an investment into my future! Everyone, including Aaron and his interviewing specialists, went the extra mile in preparing me for what was ahead. Whether it was advising, editing, interviewing, emailing, update letters, letter of intent, and all the career advice as well, I owe a huge part of my sucess to Med Mentality. Thank you, Aaron and co., for supporting me and being the MVPs of my med school applications!!!
Working with Aaron was the best decision I made when it came to applying to medical school. As an MD-PhD applicant, I needed help addressing weaknesses in my application and finding extracurricular opportunities. I also had no idea how to frame my application and tie my story together. Aaron was instrumental in helping me with this — without him, I would have been completely lost. With his help, I received over 13 interview invites and was admitted into multiple T10 MD-PhD programs! I can't state enough how invaluable Aaron was throughout the application process. He was there for me every step of the way, whether I wanted to change my essay topic last minute or needed a pep talk before an important interview.
Most importantly, Aaron taught me confidence. Going into my interviews, I felt comfortable, confident, and like I did my best. I was extremely prepared, through advice Aaron gave me, mock interviews, and other prep. I truly was prepared for anything that could have come my way.
He also taught me so much about the medical field, career paths for physician-scientists, and what to expect in medical school. He was / is the best mentor I could have asked for and I am so grateful for all of the help.
My experience was unbelievable! I was just hoping to get in somewhere with my average stats and activities but my results blew me away: 7 interviews and 5 acceptances, including to schools I considered a reach! I believe it was my application that set me apart. From the very beginning Aaron advised me on how to create my narrative and what my strengths were that I should highlight and build a story around. My essays were all my best work and I definitely put my best foot forward in this application! It’s all thanks to Aaron and I am extremely grateful for all the effort and support!!!
Tl;dr - amazing experience, cycle went better than I could have possibly imagined!
Aaron's services are more than services...he genuinely cares and is super dedicated. He spent so much time helping me figure out my "why" and helping me tell a clear story as an applicant. I believe my essays and interviews made the difference in my outcome from comparing my results to friends with similar stats. Also got a few positive comments from interviewers asking about specific phrases from my essays, showing that they were memorable. It goes without saying that he really delivered with the overall strategy and essay editing and interview prep, but I want to make a note of just how supportive Aaron was. It was his encouragement and reassurance that got me through this stressful process, and I actually feel really confident now entering medical school after reflecting a ton on what I bring to the table, who I am, and why I am doing this. Thank you!!
I cannot say enough about how amazing this service was. Aaron and his team were incredibly supportive and helpful and I truly could not have made it without them! Aaron truly cares and he was the best guide you could ask for throughout this process. Would do again 100%!
I owe a HUGE THANK YOU to Aaron, Mira, Seungyeon, and Atlee for their phenomenal efforts along this journey. I definitely had some misinformation as the start of this process and I have no idea how I would have figured this out and gotten in now that I am on the other side and I see everything I was missing. Besides for the amazing essays I submitted, Aaron’s mentorship made a huge impact on my overall experience. He was always so kind and encouraging and made me believe in myself and my chances. He went out of his way to check in with me, make sure I was meeting deadlines, and feeling overall confident during some stressful moments. I am not sure how else I can put it…for any future people reading this, Aaron is simply the best and you will not be disappointed! Thank you so so so much!!!
I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked with Med Mentality through my cycle! Every single part of the service was top notch, from the productive meetings and planning stages to the essays, secondaries, and finally interviews, everything far exceeded my expectations! In fact, I highly doubt I would have even gotten into med school at all if I applied with the approved application I wrote for my school's premed committee earlier that year. Aaron showed me how important it was to have specific and relevant reasons for pursuing med school, and walked me through crafting a strong narrative for my application. It was so enlightening to do the secondaries with him too, where he had brilliant strategies for selecting certain experiences or stories to discuss based on the mission statements and his knowledge of specific schools. I owe so many thanks to Aaron for working one-on-one with me, supporting me, and arranging for me to meet with his associates for more advice at different stages of the process. Could not have asked for a better mentor through this process!!
As someone who was aiming for top med schools, I was looking guidance specific to the admissions process within that niche. I was nervous because I felt like my extracurriculars just weren't up to par, and I honestly couldn't even answer the question of why I wanted to go to med school when Aaron first asked me. Finally, I was not too confident in my writing ability and knew I would need help to articulate myself. As it turns out, Aaron and Med Mentality were the perfect match for me! Aaron clearly outlined expectations from the beginning, explaining that there are many qualified applicants with similar profiles to mine, and there were no guarantees. But at the same time, he helped me understand what the strengths were in my application and how we could emphasize them to build a narrative across my activities and essays. I truly didn't have anything particularly outstanding in my resume, but I felt that we put together a good story about why I did certain things and what I learned along the way. At one interview I was told I had a "mature" perspective, which is a trait I credit Aaron with - as we were going through my application edits he explained so much about how medical school works and things he has learned from working with patients, which helped me visualize myself in the same shoes. That brings me to my next point...Aaron is an amazing mentor and he showed me how to believe in myself! That's something you can't put a price on and something I will hold onto as I continue my journey. Finally, thank you to Atlee for being an awesome interview coach! The mock interviews were very thorough in highlighting countless possible questions and giving advice on answering "why X school" for each one. And in general giving me tips on how to be professional and perform to my best in those high stakes conversations! Overall this was an unforgettable experience and I will absolutely be recommending Med Mentality to future pre-meds I meet!
As a reapplicant, I was so nervous that I just wasn't going to make it. But from the very first meeting with Aaron, I knew I was in good hands. And I turned out to be so right because Aaron helped me turn my application around and get 3 (!!) acceptances. We decided to pass on retaking my MCAT, so I applied with the same stats and experiences (minus a gap year as a clinical research coordinator which gave me more hours but what was probably a bland letter of rec). I went from 0 interviews to 4 interviews, most of which turned into acceptances by the end! I give full credit to Aaron, who really gave me my confidence back. I expected the application prep to be great (and it was), but really was not expecting the coaching I got along the way! Aaron is a gifted mentor and I am holding onto his contact for life!! Seriously though, this was a fantastic service and one that I would recommend to anyone. 5 stars easy!!
